Dr. Naveen Thomas
Dr. Thomas graduated cum laude from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his medical school training at Emory University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his post graduate psychiatric residency training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
His accomplishments include : 1) receiving multiple awards for community service and research, 2) presenting workshops on Innovative Programs in Public Psychiatry, 3) co-founding a non-profit organization to address the mental health needs of under served minority populations, and 4) working with legislators to craft a bill in support of this organization.
Dr. Thomas has worked in a number of mental health settings, including acute inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinical research, community mental health clinics, the Veterans Administration Hospital, and private practice. Dr. Thomas also spent a year in New Zealand serving primarily disadvantaged populations.
He has demonstrated a commitment to a holistic approach to mental health. He is interested in getting to the root causes of psychiatric symptoms, not just suppressing them.
In 2015, he completed the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine in Tucson , Arizona through the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine founded by Dr. Andrew Weill.
In 2016, he completed the Psychiatry Master Class, a training program in Integrative Psychiatry presented by Dr. Scott Shannon and colleagues in Denver, Colorado. He has also received several trainings in integrative approaches to mental health through Integrative Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH) and the Great Plains Laboratory.
