A Note from Alison

My calling is to do my part to resolve stress and trauma on the personal and global level, and I am deeply passionate about alternative and holistic therapies. Since 2012, when I co-founded the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness, I have been developing and teaching best practices in psychedelic therapy. I partner with harm reduction experts to support individuals in safe, sacred, and legal altered states exploration and in developing ‘right relationship’ with the substances they are using.

Over the past 20 years (and before becoming a full-time psychedelic professional),  I have had the honor of working in mental health settings as well as in educational and art-based community settings with a number of unique populations both in the United States and Eastern Europe. Some of the people who have inspired my path are (in chronological order) : children in New Mexico who have parents living in the prison system, first-generation New Mexicans who were experiencing hunger, ethnic minorities living in the Czech Republic (especially Romani, Asian and African child immigrants and refugees), Czech & American preschoolers and their families, adults in Colorado with mental health diagnoses who were also transitioning out of prison systems, as well as  elders with late-stage dementia, institutional trauma, depression and end-of-life anxiety. I have cherished each and every person I have worked with over the years, and am grateful for what they have taught me about the value of authentic human connection.

I deeply trust in the basic goodness within each of us, and I have immense faith in the resilience of the human spirit.  I am passionate about creating safe and healthy containers for growth and transformation. I identify as a BIPOC and LGBTQI+ ally and am committed to the path of conscious leadership.

Spiritual Statement

Alison McQueen Spirituality

My work is in alignment with the Natural Medicine Health Act and subsequent legislation which was passed in Colorado in 2022. I genuinely honor my ancestors, and I honor the ancestors of the lands I live on (the Cheyenne, Ute & Arapahoe). With a Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology (with an emphasis in Art Therapy) from Naropa University, my work bridges clinical psychology training with spirituality, mindfulness, art, meditation, and an exploration of each client’s own soul language and personal connection to what is sacred and meaningful for them. When requested by clients, I bring spiritual ceremony, ritual, ancestor work and prayer into session work. Psychedelic sessions are often innately spiritual and mystical in nature for many of my clients and I am professionally trained to navigate these realms with them. My own personal spiritual practice integrates intentional, safe and sacred medicine use practices with art, ancestral work, meditation, and somatic journeywork. I believe the states that can be reached through supported and ceremonial psychedelic experiences are each person’s birthright and I am called to make these spiritual (though non-dogmatic) practices accessible to my clients.
